Annawan, IL – Paige Sierens, Ella Anderson, and Owen Anderson have been recognized for their outstanding agricultural achievements at the state level by Illinois Association FFA. Sierens was named the State FFA Proficiency Winner in Forage Production, while Ella Anderson was recognized among the top five in Diversified Crop Production, and Owen Anderson earned a spot in the top five for Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance.
All three members are part of the Annawan FFA Chapter of the Illinois Association FFA. Illinois FFA recognizes students in forty-eight different areas based on their work-based learning, known as Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs). These experiences allow students to demonstrate their agricultural skills and competencies through record keeping, leadership, and scholastic achievement. Students are eligible for this award by owning and operating agricultural businesses, working at agriculture-based companies, or conducting scientific agricultural experiments.
Paige Sierens was selected as the State Winner in Forage Production after a thorough review by a committee of agriculture teachers, industry experts, parents, and volunteers. The selection process included a review of records and interviews held at Mt. Zion High School in Mt. Zion, IL on March 22, 2025. Sierens, the daughter of Gary and Beth Sierens of Annawan, has previously been honored as the Chapter, Section, and District awardee in this area.
Ella Anderson and Owen Anderson, the daughter and son of Andy and Denelle Anderson of Annawan, were selected as State FFA Proficiency Top 5 recipients, recognizing their exceptional skills in Diversified Crop Production and Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance, respectively. Their accomplishments reflect their commitment to agriculture and the future of the industry.
These impressive achievements highlight the leadership, dedication, and passion of all three students in shaping the future of agriculture. Sarah Paige Tarr is the agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor at Annawan High School.
State proficiency winners will receive plaques for their accomplishments, which will be presented at the 97th Illinois FFA State Convention, scheduled for June 10-12, 2025. These plaques are made possible through the support of individuals, businesses, corporations, and organizations via the Illinois Foundation FFA.
